One-to-One Monologue Coaching

Bringing Breath, Presence, and Truthful Connection

One-on-one monologue coaching for actors who want to move beyond performing the text and into fully lived, embodied storytelling.

Through a combination of text analysis, yoga techniques, breathwork, vocal exploration, and physical exercises, these sessions can help you connect deeply to the language, intention, impulse, and imagination of your piece — so the work feels truthful, alive, and uniquely your own.

Whether you are preparing for drama school auditions, professional auditions for theatre, television, or film, public speaking events, or simply looking to deepen your craft, one-to-one coaching is crafted to meet you where you are and help you find your truth in the work.

A Holistic Approach to Acting

Acting truthfully lives in the breath, the voice, and the body as much as in the intellect.

Monologue coaching sessions are designed to help actors:

  • Release tension and habitual patterns in the body and the voice
  • Build confidence and vocal freedom
  • Reduce stress and anxiety over upcoming auditions and performances
  • Develop emotional connection without forcing
  • Discover clarity, intention, spontaneity, and truthfulness in the text
  • Strengthen presence and groundedness
  • Bring authenticity and individuality to your work

“It is not a matter of learning new things, but rather of ridding oneself of old habits. For each individual actor it must be clearly established what it is that blocks his intimate associations, thus causing his lack of decision, the chaos of his expression and his lack of discipline, what prevents him from experiencing the feeling of his own freedom, that his organism is completely free and powerful, and that nothing is beyond his capabilities. In other words, how can the obstacles be eliminated?”

– Jerzy Grotowski in Towards A Poor Theatre

Using techniques rooted in yoga, breathwork, movement, text analysis, and vocal work, actors learn how to inhabit the text rather than simply recite it.

One-to-One Monologue Coaching includes:

  • Monologue Selection: Find material that showcases your strengths, range, and individuality.
  • Text Analysis: Break down the text’s language and use its language choice, rhythm, structure and more to inform your work
  • Breath & Voice Work: Free your vocal range, resonance, clarity, and emotional connection through guided breathwork and vocal exercises.
  • Physical Embodiment: Release tension and physically explore your text, to ground your work and deepen your connection to your character and your impulse.
  • Audition Preparation: Refine pacing, staging, transitions, emotional arc, and presence for drama school and professional auditions.
  • Confidence & Presence: Use physical and breathing techniques to ground down, focus, and find freedom from stress and anxiety, allowing your truest self to arrive at the work.

“Regulate the breathing, and thereby control the mind.” – BKS Iyengar
